A leg-assisted press: a short dip and explosive drive let you handle more weight than a strict press.
ShouldersTricepsQuadsCoreKettlebell
How to perform
- 1.Bell in the rack position, elbow tucked
- 2.A short, springy 10-15 cm dip with no forward lean
- 3.Explosive leg drive transfers momentum into the bell
- 4.Finish the press with the arm to full lockout overhead
Common mistakes
- Dipping too deep and losing the spring
- Leaning forward in the dip
- Pressing early with the arm before the leg drive
Tips
- A perfect bridge between the strict press and heavier loads
Limitations
Use caution with issues in: shoulders, knees. If you feel discomfort, reduce the range of motion or swap the exercise — ideally after consulting a coach.
